Julian Kim returned once again to the role of Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, this time at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in a revival of Damiano Michieletto’s production, conducted by Alessandro D'Agostini. Michieletto’s staging, though simple, effectively brought a festive and vibrant spirit to the performance. Unlike lighter, more buoyant interpretations, Julian Kim’s Figaro stood out for its vocal depth. He possessed a beautiful dark timbre that was both soft and vigorous, with high notes delivered effortlessly, giving the role a grounded yet energetic presence.
