This production marked Julian Kim's first staged opera performance at Teatro La Fenice. Previously, he had performed as a baritone soloist in Lo spirito della musica di Venezia at Palazzo Ducale, Cortile in Venice, where he sang Io morrò from Don Carlo and Di Provenza il mare il suol from La Traviata under the baton of Maestro Myung-Whun Chung in July of the previous year. However, this was his first time performing a fully staged opera in Venice at the prestigious Teatro La Fenice, taking on one of the most coveted baritone roles, Marcello in La Bohème.

His performance was well-received, with a review noting his solid vocal delivery, clear emission, and precise phrasing, along with commendation for his ability to extend comfortably toward the tenor register.
