L'ELISIR D'AMORE
AsLiCo, short for "Associazione Lirica e Concertistica Italiana," is an Italian opera organization focused on discovering and nurturing young opera singers. It provides performance opportunities in various theaters through competitions and opera productions. In 2013, AsLiCo held a competition to cast roles for L'Elisir d'Amore, selecting singers for the roles of Adina, Tancredi, Amenaide, and Dulcamara. Initially, no singer was chosen for the role of Belcore. Francesco Paolo Vultaggio, who had been cast as Dulcamara, ended up alternating between the roles of Dulcamara and Belcore. Although Julian Kim did not participate in the AsLiCo competition, he was cast as Belcore due to his victory at the 2012 Toulouse Competition. He performed alongside the AsLiCo singers in productions staged across Lombardy, including performances in Brescia, Cremona, Como, and Pavia. Reviews praised Julian Kim as a perfect Donizettian character with excellent stage presence.
