2009
IL SIGNOR BRUSCHINO
On June 21, 2009, Julian Kim performed the role of Gaudenzio in Rossini’s Il signor Bruschino at the Verdi Hall of the Conservatorio di Milano. Far more than a student exercise, the production was a fully staged public performance, featuring the UECO Orchestra and direction by Laura Cosso, with musical supervision by Daniele Agiman, Demetrio Colaci, and Umberto Finazzi. Claudio Cinelli designed the sets, costumes, and lighting, while the Teatro Regio di Torino generously provided costumes. Admission was free to the public, and the event reflected the Milan Conservatory’s commitment to bridging professional-level opera training with real-world experience.
Julian Kim’s portrayal of Gaudenzio showcased his comic timing, clear diction, and flexibility in Rossini’s rapid vocal writing. The production — now documented with video footage and performance archives — marks a significant early milestone in his operatic development and is officially listed on Operabase as part of his performance record.
